Made a big batch of doenjang jjigae, mixed reviews at home!

So this weekend I finally attempted doenjang jjigae with a Costco tofu block and a ton of zucchini because I had way too much of it sitting around. My oldest actually liked it, said it tasted "kinda like miso soup but better" which I'll take as a win, but my youngest would not touch it because of the smell, lol! I tried toning down the doenjang amount to make it milder but I think I lost some of the depth doing that, does anyone else struggle with that balance between kid-friendly and actually tasting like something? It's freezing here in Chicago right now so a big pot of stew felt right, and I've got leftovers for days which honestly is my favorite part of cooking anything. Anyone have tricks for getting picky eaters used to fermented flavors gradually or is it just a lost cause with certain kids?
